Tolkein’s The Hobbit
Synopsis
After secretly raising an incredibly gifted spider, 12-year-old Charlotte must face the facts about her pet and fight for her family’s survival when the once-charming creature quickly transforms into a giant, carnivorous monster. Charlotte names the spider Sting after seeing a copy of J.R.R. Sting is not the name of a spider in The Hobbit, but rather the sword Bilbo uses to fight spiders. Although it was supposed to be set in New York City, the Australian setting is valid, door handles are about 3 feet off the ground in the United States, here the handles are halfway up the doors.
Frank: I don’t think spiders make good pets
When a street view is shown, cars are parked on the “wrong side” of the streets compared to the United States. You know, spiders don’t have the capacity for love. A spider only knows two things, to eat and to kill. During the credits, it is revealed that Bonnie the dog survived after being kidnapped by Sting.

Sting really didn’t need to be an alien spider, he didn’t have to explain so much and despite the short running time, it has some serious pacing issues. It takes too long to get to the good part and then ends abruptly, but a strong cast, some disturbing kills and a well-meaning love for aliens help make it a fun one-time movie.
They care for each other affectionately, while struggling to communicate properly at points
Alyla Browne and Ryan Corr are the heart of the film while Jermaine Fowler is sparingly used comic relief. The story arc that follows has few surprises, which is no problem, as it gives the film some stakes, endearing you to them and helping you stay invested in their survival. Kiah Roache-Turner’s direction gives the film a kitschy tone that often helps as much as it hinders. Starting it late creates a solid hook, and the scares are strongest when they’re truly gross.
Brad Shield’s cinematography glides through the impressive set pieces, which gives the film an energy that almost makes up for its slow pace
